It’s the most bountiful time of the year. Help the growers, farmers and food producers of the Barrie Farmers’ Market celebrate Harvest Day on September 15. Here’s what to expect:

• Guess the Weight of the Squash – Win a massive harvest basket worth over $500!!! 25 cents per guess and whoever guesses the closest without going over wins! Scroll down to see the long list of vendors who have contributed to the prize basket.
• Cooking demonstrations by Urban Pantry Barrie and seasonal recipes and samples from the Barrie Native Friendship Centre.
• Live music from singer Michelle Guy.
• Market Photo Contest – Submit your best photos that capture what makes the market special and submit them to the Barrie Farmers’ Market Facebook or Instagram (@barriefarmersmarket) with #BFMharvestday. The market will shortlist the best ones after Harvest Day and a public vote will follow with the winner getting $50 in market money!
• Booth Decorating Contest – Market vendors will be decorating their booths and you get to pick the best one! Stop by the Market Manager’s booth to place your vote.

Also stop by the Barrie FruitShare booth to find out about the work they’re doing to collect fruit and vegetables from local gardens to support social services agencies like the Barrie Food Bank.
